What your students see on their search page

3 min read · Updated 2026-10-19

A student you set up with a search gets one simple page that shows where their search is up to, the properties we have found, and a way to reach us. There is no dashboard to learn and nowhere else to get lost. Knowing what is on it helps you coach them through it.

How they get in

When your student submits their search form, we email them a link that signs them straight in. There is no password to set up. That email is also how they come back later, so tell them to keep it.

If they open the page signed into the wrong account, there is a Not you? Sign out link at the top.

The four tabs

Your search

The main view. It shows:

  • A four-step progress bar — Received, Being worked, Property found, Yours — with a line under it saying what happens next.
  • Updates from us — the same notes you see in your portal, word for word.
  • Properties we've brought you — each with its address and a View the listing link where we have one. Your student answers each with I like it or Pass. A pass is as useful to us as a like, because it tells us what to source next. Their answers show up in your portal too.
  • A held property — when we are holding something that fits, they see what it is, whether it is inside their budget, and whether it is approved for subleasing in writing, but not the address yet.

Account

Their name, email and phone (read-only), plus their search details. Here they can:

  • Change their cities — up to three, each with its own requirements, or blank to use the general ones.
  • Edit their budget, dates and what the property needs.

Changes take effect right away, and you see a note in your portal that they updated their brief.

How this works

A short explanation of the process in plain language: we source on their criteria, we keep them posted, they can change anything at any time, and when they like an approved property they can reach the owner directly or ask us to make the intro.

Support

A button that opens a text message to our team with the first line already written, so updates come straight back to their phone. A person reads every message.

Money: what they see depends on who pays

  • If you cover the fee, your student sees no prices, no balances and no reassurances about money anywhere. When a property is found, the page simply says we are getting it finalized and the address will land on the page and in their email.
  • If your student pays, they see the fee on their original form, and an Unlock the address button once we are holding a property for them. Nothing is owed before then. After paying, the address appears on the page and the owner's details arrive by email.

Good to know

  • Right after they submit, the page may say there is nothing there yet. We set new searches up within 12 to 24 hours and email them when it is ready.
  • The approved badge on a property only appears once a deal on that search has been paid — the same rule you see in your portal.
  • A search page is not a marketplace subscription. Your student will not see the Zi-Find marketplace unless access has been granted separately.
