How the University learning path works
Your learning path is the recommended order to work through your courses. Courses unlock one after another: finish a course and mark it complete, and the next one opens.
Reading your path
Open University. If your role has a path, the page says "Complete each step to unlock the next" and groups your courses into phases, starting with the ones to Focus on these now. The next course you should take is highlighted.
Each card shows your progress. A course you cannot open yet shows why:
- "Finish" followed by a course name — complete that course first.
- "Unlocks" followed by a date — it opens on that date, or sooner if you finish the named course.
- Book a call to unlock — it is a paid track your account is not enrolled in. See Which courses you can access.
If your account has no path, you see a flat My library of every course you can open, in no particular order.
How a course gets completed
Every course is completed in one of three ways, set by the course:
- Watched — the course completes automatically once you have opened every lesson. The course page tells you this.
- Quiz — the course completes when you pass its quiz.
- Mark as complete — when you have finished, click Mark as complete at the end of the course ("Finished this course? Mark it complete to unlock the next course in your path").
Whichever way a course completes, if it has a Course quiz, you must pass it first. If you try to mark a course complete too early, you are told what is left — for example "Pass this module's quiz first" or "Watch all lessons in this course first."
Course quizzes
A course quiz appears at the end of the lesson list. Answer the questions and submit. You need to reach the passing score shown with the quiz. When you pass, the course finalizes your progress and the next step unlocks.
When you reach the end
When you finish the last course in your path, the course page tells you you have reached the end. If you have been offered certification, the next step is the final quiz. See Final quiz and certification.
Good to know

- The Continue learning banner always picks up where you left off.
- If a course you finished still looks locked to the next one, refresh the page. If it is still stuck, sign in and open Help or use the chat bubble.
