How owners receive and reply to operator inquiries

2 min read · Updated 2026-10-19

When an operator is interested in your property, they send you a message on Zi-Find. You get an email letting you know, and you reply from Messages in your owner workspace. From there you talk to the operator directly.

Where inquiries arrive

  1. Sign in and click Messages in the sidebar (or the Messages card on your owner Dashboard).
  2. Each conversation is one operator asking about one of your properties.
  3. Open it, read their message, and type your reply.

You also get an email each time an operator writes to you, so you don't need to keep checking.

Who is messaging you

The people who message you are operators — short- and mid-term rental hosts who pay Zi-Find for marketplace access. Paying for access does not mean Zi-Find has vetted their business for you, so treat an inquiry the way you would any prospective tenant: ask about their experience, their plans for the unit, references, and how they handle guests.

Questions worth asking:

  • Short-term, mid-term, or both? Who are their typical guests?
  • How many units do they run, and where?
  • Who handles cleaning, maintenance, and guest issues?
  • What insurance do they carry?
  • What lease length are they after?

Sharing phone numbers and emails

You can always send plain messages. Contact details and links (a phone number, an email, a website) can be shared in a conversation once either person is on a plan that includes contact sharing. Most operators who message you are on one, so in practice you can usually swap numbers right away. If a message is held because it contains contact details, you'll see a note — remove the details and send, or keep the conversation on Zi-Find.

What happens next is up to you

Zi-Find does not negotiate, approve tenants, or take part in your lease. If you and the operator want to go ahead, you agree terms and sign a lease directly. No rent or deposit passes through Zi-Find, and we take no cut.

Good to know

  • An operator's message is an inquiry. You are never obliged to reply or to accept.
  • If a property is no longer available, take the listing down so you stop getting inquiries — see Managing your listing.
  • If you never created an account (for example, someone submitted your property for you), operator inquiries may arrive by email instead, with the operator's address set as the reply-to. Replying to that email goes straight to the operator.

I'm not getting inquiry emails.

Check your spam folder first, then see Not receiving emails.
